Peninsula Girl Scout Day CampHuddart Park, Woodside CA Registration Deadline: April 3, 2010 |
Peninsula Day Camp expects that your child will arrive and depart camp by bus. Should you make other arrangements, those arrangements are not the responsibility of Peninsula Girl Scout Day Camp or Girl Scouts of San Francisco Bay Area. However your child WILL return home each day by bus unless you notify us otherwise IN WRITING.
Peninsula Day Camp provides free bus service to Huddart Park. Aides and "bus moms" ride with the girls and lead their favorite camp songs, so the ride to Huddart Park each day becomes a memorable and fun part of your daughter's camp experience.
Children of full-time at-camp volunteers are expected to ride to/from camp in a private vehicle. All other campers are expected to ride the bus.
Campers are assigned to a specific bus (see bus schedules page). If you do not know your camper's bus color or bus stop location please contact the Administrator at [Debbie at peninsuladaycamp dot org]. Your camper must go to and from camp on the assigned bus .
Please arrive at least ten minutes before the bus is scheduled to arrive. You must sign your camper in each morning with the bus stop monitor and sign her out each afternoon. You will be required to park your car and go to the bus stop monitor to complete the sign in / sign out procedure. Your child will not be released from the bus stop area until you (or other person authorized by you) have signed your child out.
Campers going home with someone other than a parent must have a signed release form. Please give it to the bus stop monitor on the first day of camp . If we do not have your authorization to release your child to another person, your child will be held in the care of the bus stop monitor until you arrive to sign out the camper.
Buses will not wait for late campers. If you miss the bus or for any other reason will drive your camper to camp on a particular day, you MUST sign in your camper at headquarters, located in the Oak Area at Huddart Park.
If you will arrive at camp after 9:30AM, you must phone our emergency contact to let her know when your camper will arrive.
Bus stop monitors will remain in the bus area only ten minutes after the scheduled bus arrival time each afternoon. Any child not picked up within ten minutes of the scheduled bus arrival time will remain in the care of the bus stop monitor while she attends to her personal business. Bus stop monitors are not expected to provide campers with entertainment or snacks. If for some unavoidable reason, you are more than ten minutes late to pick up your child, page the Camp Director, Sharon Torrano (cell 650-678-4863 or pager 650-572-3321) and leave a number where you can be reached. She will return your call to let you know where to pick up your child. We hope that this procedure will not be necessary.
A luggage tag was sent with your campers packet of information. to attach to your overnight gear. Please make sure that it is clearly marked with your camper's name and unit number. This will help us to eliminate confusion and reunite campers with gear.
Important:
Your camper will be spending the night on the last Thursday of camp (6th , 7th & 8th grade girls may also be spending additional nights at camp). Therefore, there will be no bus service Thursday afternoon or Friday morning. The buses will be returning campers to their bus stop on the last Friday of camp after noon, depending upon the stop location. Please remember that the buses may run a little late the last two days of camp due to the loading and unloading of sleeping bags and personal gear.
We thank you for your cooperation in our transportation procedures. Together, we can assure the safety of all of our campers.
If your camper is being picked up from the bus stop by anyone but a parent, please turn in a camper release form (available on the forms page). to the bus monitor. Please don't send it to the camp registrar!
